Adobe Premiere Pro features the “Generative Extend” tool, an AI-powered function that allows users to lengthen video and audio clips. This tool generates new frames or audio content, enabling the addition of several extra seconds to existing clips.
How to Use:
- Find the Tool: Open Premiere Pro, head to your timeline, pick a clip, and you’ll spot the “Generative Extend” tool (it’s a new icon right under the text tool) in your toolbar.
- Stretch It Out: Grab the tool, hover over the end of your clip, and drag to extend (you can add up to 2 seconds for video and 10 seconds for audio!). Premiere Pro will then whip up some new frames or audio, and you’ll see a little label showing you the AI-generated part.
Limitations and Considerations:
Resolution: Currently, Generative Extend works best with video clips that are 1920×1080 or 1280×720 resolution.
Frame Rate: The video clip should not exceed 30 frames per second.
Aspect Ratio: The clip should have a 16:9 aspect ratio.
Audio: Generative Extend can also extend audio clips, allowing you to add up to 10 seconds of AI-generated audio.
Premium Feature: Generative Extend is a premium generative AI feature, accessible through Adobe Firefly standalone plans or select Creative Cloud plans.
